Subject: State Operated Aircraft
Date: Thu, 7 Jun 2001 16:14:56 -0500
I was given this address as a focal point for IANRP. I have been
working on a comprehensive listing of State Operated aircraft. When
complete, I intend to give it back to organizations that may have a need
for this information.
If you are interested, I would be willing to send you
a copy of the information that I have, to date. I would ask for
you to review it, based on your membership, and let me know of any
omissions, corrections, or oversights.

We're in a "bean counter" battle for our Emergency Response
aircraft. One of the questions that came up is, "What aircraft do
other states have, and what do they do with them?" I first checked
with national organizations such as ALEA, HAI, NBAA, NASAO, and all
agreed that it would be good information, but none had a comprehensive list. I will admit to being ignorant of your organization. So, I figured
that the only way to have any validity to the answer was to call all 50
states and compile the information. So, that's what I'm doing.
Because we are talking all 50 states, I had to limit the categories
to a few very generic items. "Admin" would be any missions
that wouldn't normally fall under the other two general categories. It
would be such things as transporting people, your own or others, to
meetings, carrying constitutional officers, providing shuttle type
service, etc. Under "Medical", I've included "On
Scene" which could include the fire people moving their injured
personnel to a hospital or higher care; "Inter Hospital" which
I think is self explanatory; and "Other" which I have been
including such missions as blood transport, organ transport, etc. In the
general category of "Law Enforcement", I believe that traffic
is relatively self explanatory; "Drug Eradication/Enforcement"
has been used to cover virtually any actions connected with drugs; and
"Other" has been a catch all for any other law enforcement
mission. "Search and Rescue" has included either/and missions.
In the "Remarks" column, I've tried to list each
organization's source of funding as well as any other significant
information. In the "Remarks", I've also listed
e-mail and FAX numbers of people who have asked for copies when the list
is completed.
When I've completed this compilation, I intend to send it to any
organization that would like to have a copy. I feel that even if the
information is out of date when needed, it will give a
good starting point for someone who wants to update the information.
I've also found that it provides a source for people who operate like
equipment or do similar missions.
I appreciate your assistance and hope that the completed product will
help make the next person's battle a little
easier.
